Seán is from Drogheda, Co Louth, Ireland. Irish Music Magazine remarked on his debut album Dreaming is Allowed "Mathews has a good way with words in the songs on offer here and he delivers the tracks with a sense of real feeling that must come across very powerfully in live performances."
He can sing unaccompanied traditional Irish Songs, his own compositions and some Folk Favourites. As a member of the Drogheda singers (an unaccompanied singing group meeting weekly over 40 years now) Seán has been influenced by the elder singers in his community.
